Join Us for Our First Watershed Rescue Product Launch!
We’re thrilled to invite you to be part of a major milestone — the launch of Watershed Rescue’s very first product! When you purchase a First Edition bead bracelet, you're doing more than wearing a beautiful piece of jewelry. You're funding the removal of ten pounds of trash from our very first river project.
Your bracelet isn't just a symbol — it's a solution. Each one is handcrafted using stunning recycled glass beads, made from glass reclaimed along our beaches and riverbanks. The string is upcycled fishing line, recovered directly from the ocean and sandy shores. Finished with our signature Watershed Rescue charm, your bracelet will serve as a daily reminder of the impact you're making.
About Our First Project: Cleaning Up the Hawaiian Islands
Have you ever visited Hawaii? It’s one of America’s most cherished vacation destinations — and for good reason. Pristine white sand beaches, lush landscapes, and crystal-clear waters draw millions of visitors every year.
But just beyond the postcard-perfect shores lies a troubling reality: massive amounts of plastic waste polluting this paradise.
On our own visits over the years, we were shocked to see beaches littered with plastic ropes, fishing equipment, Styrofoam, bottles, and food packaging. Plastic gets tangled in mangrove roots and buried in the sand — making it incredibly hard to remove.
According to the Hawaii Wildlife Fund (HWF), an estimated 15 to 20 tons of marine debris washes onto Hawaii’s shores every year — and 96% of it is plastic. Even more alarming, 70% of all ocean waste originates from land sources. That means it's not just fishing boats causing the problem — it’s plastic waste from streets, storm drains, and rivers, carried to the sea.
And the problem doesn’t stop there. Earth.org reports that global plastic consumption has skyrocketed to about 300 million tonnes annually, with up to 11 million tons ending up in our oceans. Hawaii’s problem is especially severe because it sits near the North Pacific Gyre — home to the infamous Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
This "patch" is a swirling mass of plastic debris roughly 1.6 million square kilometers wide — that's larger than Texas and California combined — and it traps millions of tons of plastic waste, some dating back decades.
As a result, Hawaii becomes a landing spot for plastic debris from all over the world. A place we love. A place that draws visitors from around the globe. A place that urgently needs our help.
